Op shopping karma?

Op shop find

I had this stupid concept of opshopping karma (for lack of a better word) This means ther's only ever a certain amount of wonderful things for you out there and you shouldn't be too greedy because you'll be disappointed.....
....so if I have a dream shop where I find one amazing thing....or lots of perfect things in each shop I go in to - I take a short break

.....or when I found a huge stack of really cute mixtape scarves still in their packets on Friday - I excercise great restraint only taking as many as I could handle ( ten in this case) and as a result got a nice surprise when t went to pay - they were half price!

Do you impose silly ideas on your second hand hunting?

.....

Yes, I have a definite strategy - I stay out of op shops because I don't have op shop skills. I get overwhelmed by the stories behind the objects. So my secret is to rely on the skills of Etsy vintage sellers - yes it costs more, but it does support micro-business ...

Where'd you get the mixtape scarves? Are there likely to be any left?

I stopped the counter lady at Vinnies in Dickson wrapping up something for me because I'd changed my mind the other day - I try to stick to stuff that I can use immediately, and stick to a few areas of desire ;)

MTB - Sorry I should have said - I got the scarves at the Woden(Philip) St Vinnies last Friday - They might still have some left as they were heaps of them. They were down the back of the front part of the shop where you find random crafting stuff.....if you don't have any luck let me know and I'll send you one of mine.

Man they're fabulous. Wish I had wheels so I could go snaffle some up for crafting myself. Hopefully there'll be some left tomorrow when Taph and I plan to do a big op shop adventure...

I didn't find any today, but I did find a gorgeous silk scarf (more pocket handkercheif) from Liberty instead. The woman wasn't sure whether it should be half of the marked down price, and was going back and forward about it even though I was giving her the marked price. I was nearly at the stage of telling her to give the next person the difference off or to treat it as a donation - it was not a high price even at the original price!

There weren't any mix tape scarves to be seen....nor much crafty stuff. I had a good rummage through the shelves near the window that seemed to have the crafty stuff, as well as the scarf basket but found none.

Alistair/ MTB Girl: It's my fault there were no Mixtape scarves left. The Shopping Sherpa's Shopping Sherpa picked up the last 5 early this morning (Thanks Taph!)

Gorgeous scarves.

I don't have any exact op-shopping rules but whenever I can (and when I remember!) I read this mantra: "Do I need it? Is it beautiful?"
Of course, it doesn't always work. ;P
