Homage

We couldn't get to the Charny Carnie today, but some of our purchases were apposite. Fortunately the only mullet we spotted was $6 a kilo at Fyshwick markets. ;)

Crocs, Vinnies Monster Sale, $3 and Bogan Pride DVD, Vinnies Dickson, $4.

On a classier note, we picked up this Wedgewood coffee pot in the Pennine design for friends who have collected this pattern for more than 40 years. It was $2 at Salvos Fyshwick Bargain Basement.

Are times so tough?

That they're ram raiding op shops now?

Vinnies Dickson is closed until after Easter because a truck smacked into the side wall. Did I have my camera on me to show you the resulting damage? No.

And in completely unrelated news, Salvos Fyshwick has a range of new with tag bras for sale. Mostly smaller sizes, so if you're a 10 you'll be able to grab yourself a bargain...

Vinnies goes for woolies

Although we're having a week of 30 degree+ temperatures here in Canberra, it's all overcoats and beanies at Vinnies.

The winter stock is out, so if you're keen to snaffle a kid's snowsuit, now's the time. As we all know, they'll all be gone when it's actually cold. There was a nice Size 5 kids overall number at Dickson today.

Things that should NOT be bought second hand, ever

While we are all into buying second hand material and giving it a second life, there are times when you are out shopping for second hand material and you come across stuff that you know you should never, ever, buy second hand. When Taph and I have been on our foraging trips we have sometimes come across some things that are like this, and sometimes, we just put them back, but other times, we have remembered to take photos of them so we could post them here.
This is just so wrong and Aussie junk should never have put them on display. I mean who would even consider buying such a thing from Aussie Junk.
Spotted this in the Canberra Times ad-hoc section (On Tuesday 16 December). I do not know if the person is serious or having a joke on Canberra, but I was not going to ring them to find out.
Really would anyone buy this second hand. Guys, a word of advise here, if you are going to buy something like this for your Significant other, THEN BUY IT NEW.
The good old personal massager, never buy one used as you never know where it has been massaging.

Oh, one other thing, remember to take baby wipes with you, because after handling this lot, we needed to wash our hands.

Let us know about your finds at ops shops, or at least the stuff you find that should not be there.

Swanning about

(Reprinted from The Shopping Sherpa)
It's not Crown Lynn (well I'm pretty sure it's not, as it's a rough surface where as the Crown Lynn swans I've seen are all smooth) but since it looks the same I'm guessing it's made from those "overseas moulds" they used to make the Crown Lynn ones with.

Whatever, for $10 at my local Vinnies, I decided this not-Crown Lynn swan was better than the rather more expensive real mccoy!
